Post Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Departments of Psychiatry (including the Massachusetts Mental Health Center; MMHC) and Neurology, and the Harvard Medical School (HMS)

The BIDMC/MMHC Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology is seeking qualified candidates for 2012-2013. A second year is also available and is strongly encouraged. Fellows will have academic appointments at HMS, work at a major medical center, and receive a variety of in-depth training experiences that include seminars, clinical case conferences and intensive supervision. Clinical rotations will entail evaluations of individuals with a broad array of neuropsychological disorders including major psychiatric illness, epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, mild cognitive impairment, various forms of dementia, neurodevelopmental problems, sleep deficits, metabolic disturbances, diabetes, and major organ failure. Comprehensive assessments of adults with ADHD, learning disabilities or other neurodevelopmental disorders will be emphasized. Fellows will work closely with neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, and behavioral neurologists in a multi-disciplinary team approach. Training will focus on the integration of relevant medical, psychological, and social factors in the formulation of treatment plans to enhance individual’s quality of life, and to help families understand and cope with ongoing challenges of chronic neuropsychiatric problems. Protected time for research is also available in Fellow’s areas of interests, and will be supervised by faculty with particular expertise in the following domains: memory impairments, risk factors for major mental illness, analysis of the effects of learning disorders on development across the life span, and neurocognitive aspects of epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia and dementia.
