Positive Psychology Funding and other Opportunities Call for Papers, Symposia and Posters: The Jean Piaget Society invites program submissions for the 32nd Annual Meeting to take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 6 - 8, 2002. The theme of this years conference is, The Embodied Mind and Consciousness: Developmental Perspectives. Scholars interested in the development of knowledge are invited to participate whatever their discipline. Submissions that do not address the program theme are welcome. Submission deadline is December 1, 2001. 2002 NIH Council of Public Representatives Applications The Department of Psychology and the World Affairs Center at Beloit College (Wisconsin) invite applications for a unique study abroad program in cross-cultural psychology. In the fall of 2002, a group of 10-12 students and a faculty director will live and study in Tartu, Estonia, for two months and in Fez, Morocco, for two months. In addition to a course in cross-cultural psychology, students will take basic language courses and courses in Estonian and Moroccan society and culture. The Family Research Consortium III, supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, will sponsor a 2002 Summer Institute for family researchers. The Institute will provide a forum for dissemination, evaluation and discussion of important new developments in theory and research design, methods and analysis in the field of family research. The Institute accepts a limited number of both junior and senior researchers as participants and allows for intellectual exchange among participants and presenters in addition to the more structured program of high quality presentations. The theme of the 2002 Summer Institute is "Family Processes, Mental Health and Positive Development in Diverse Contexts." The Institute will be held at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, North Carolina, from June 20 - 23, 2002. Deadline for applying is Friday, March 1, 2002. The programs provide opportunities for PhD, ScD, or MD scientists and engineers of unusual promise and ability to perform research on problems largely of their own choosing, yet compatible with the research interests of the sponsoring laboratory. Applications, submitted directly to the National Research Council, are accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year. Those post-marked by January 15 will be reviewed in February, by April 15 in June, and by August 15 in October. Initial awards will be announced immediately following each review with notification of alternate candidates at a later time.
