| Developmental psychology position. The Psychology program at West Texas A & M University (a member of the Texas A & M system) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a three-year position in Psychology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2014.
The qualified applicant will have teaching and research interests related to Developmental Psychology (specialization within area is open). Applicants must have strong teaching skills and a demonstrated record of scholarship. Main teaching responsibilities for the position will include developmental-related courses. The candidate will be expected to provide first-rate teaching within our undergraduate and graduate program. The teaching load is 4/4. Additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects, supervising master’s theses and advising students.
Decisions will be made on the basis of demonstrated research excellence, and potential for teaching excellence and collegial service. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Psychology, however, ABD will be considered. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Psychology program at WTAMU is rapidly growing. We currently have 7 faculty on staff, with expertise in experimental, clinical, school, evolutionary, neuro-psychology and neuroscience. The University is located in Canyon, Texas, a safe, pleasant town of about 13,000 people and excellent public schools. The town is 15 minutes away from Amarillo, Texas, which is a vibrant city of 200,000 with lots of restaurants and shops, as well as affordable properties, relative to national averages.
