| The Psychology Department of Santa Monica College is seeking a full-time faculty member in Health Psychology. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable regarding current findings, theoretical approaches and research strategies in the field and will be able to teach lower-division courses in Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, develop a class in Health Psychology as well as teach multiple, related courses. Faculty participate in professional activities at the individual, departmental, institutional and community levels by remaining current in subject matter areas and instruction techniques, participating in curriculum development and in the review and assessment of programs and courses, and serving in campus governance and faculty organizations.
Master’s degree in psychology OR bachelor’s degree in psychology AND master’s degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work OR the equivalent* OR possession of an appropriate valid California Community College Credential authorizing service in the specified subject area(s).
Preferred: Recent Ph.D. from a Health Psychology program; experience in research on current topics in health psychology, e.g. biopsychosocial-related research; recent experience teaching lower division courses in psychology; experience in the use of computer technology as a teaching tool; experience with diverse communities and populations; evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socio-economic, academic, cultural and ethnic diversity within the community college student population, including students with physical and/or learning disabilities.
