| IUPUC has delivered high-quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs aligned with and responsive to regional educational needs since 1970. A tenure-track appointment is available on August 1, 2014, at the rank of Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Division of Science. IUPUC values a balanced approach to teaching and scholarship that allows for high quality teaching and mentoring relationships with students, while affording time for research activities and support for professional development.
The position is a ten-month assignment with expectations of teaching cognitive psychology and learning, conducting and publishing high quality scholarly research, and engaging in service. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is important.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. with a specialization in cognitive psychology and clear evidence of the ability to establish and maintain an active and productive research program. PREFERENCES: Two or more years’ teaching experience working with traditional and non-traditional undergraduate students; ability to teach courses outside the area of specialization, such as introductory psychology, developmental psychology, research methods, or statistics; experience in online or hybrid course development and delivery; interest in engaging undergraduate students in research and in collaborating with faculty across disciplines. Civic engagement and grantsmanship are viewed positively.
The IUPUC Psychology Program offers a B.A. and B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. There are about 200 undergraduate Psychology majors, nine full-time faculty members, and a professional adviser. Classes are small and personal attention and mentoring relationships are encouraged. IUPUC is located one hour south of Indianapolis, 1¼ hours from Louisville, and 1½ hours from Cincinnati.
