| Fairfield University seeks a Dean with strategic vision and administrative skills to lead its Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions (GSEAP) and strengthen the public recognition of its graduate programs in Connecticut and the region. The School fulfills Fairfield University’s Jesuit mission through its deep commitment to advocacy, diversity, and social justice. GSEAP is a distinctive, regional leader in preparing scholar-practitioners(teachers, counselors, therapists, psychologists, and consultants) for roles in fields serving children, youth, families, and communities in public and private schools, allied education and human service agencies, and business organizations.
The Dean and two Associate Deans with 28 full-time and 50 affiliate faculty in four departments (Counselor Education, Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Psychological and Educational Consultation) serve 600 graduate students. GSEAP offers two levels of professional graduate degree programs: (1) Master of Arts and (2) Certificate of Advanced Studies. Also, two five-year integrated BA/MA programs in teacher education and industrial and organizational psychology are offered. The School’s teacher preparation and clinical training programs are nationally accredited by their professions’ accrediting organizations (including NCATE, CACREP, COAMFTE, etc.). The new Dean will lead GSEAP’s strategic growth, enrich existing partnerships with community agencies and the School’s advisory board, develop greater participation in the five-year degree programs, deepen collaborations with faculty outside of GSEAP, and expand professional development opportunities in the region.
The Dean’s position requires an earned doctorate (in education, one of the allied education professions, or a closely-related field) and a record of teaching, research, and service for a tenured appointment at the rank of Full Professor. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and collaborative leader, committed and able to lead the School to the next level of excellence.The Dean will be expected to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, community leaders, and other partners to advance the School’s research, teaching, and service missions. The successful candidate will have experience in academic, personnel, and fiscal management with the ability to fundraise.
