The Department of Psychology at San Jose State University announces an Assistant Professor position in Developmental Psychology to begin in August 2014. The area of specialization within Developmental Psychology is open. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Psychology or related field by August 2014. The successful candidate must demonstrate potential for teaching and scholarly excellence. San Jose State University is a teaching institution that values mentored research. Teaching responsibilities for this position include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in developmental psychology (e.g., child, adolescent, and/or aging), writing, research methods, and introductory psychology as needed by the department. The successful applicant should be prepared to take an active role in the Department’s Masters of Arts in Psychology program as a researcher serving on thesis committees.
Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience. The applicant should be prepared to address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
