Our Stroke Rehabilitation Research department (http://kesslerfoundation.org/researchcenter/stroke) uses a combination of behavioral, neuropsychological, and neurophysiological techniques to study spatial neglect – a common cognitive disorder following a unilateral brain injury such as a stroke. Individuals with spatial neglect typically demonstrate abnormal inattention to the space contralateral to the injured cerebral hemisphere. For example, right-brain-damaged stroke survivors with spatial neglect may fail to attend to, perceive, respond to, or act on stimuli on the left side of their body, which pathologically impedes their everyday activities.

• PhD in neuroscience-related discipline (e.g., cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, cognitive neuroscience) by October 2013;
• Experience in analyzing and processing structural (e.g. lesion mapping, voxel-based morphometry, DTI) and functional MRI data; and
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Strong programming skills for stimulus presentation and experiment design (e.g., E-Prime, MATLAB, or Presentation) and statistical modeling (e.g., STATA or R) are preferred. Prior experience in working with clinical populations is very desirable.

Please send CV, expected date of availability, contact information of three references, and a statement of research interest and career goals to career@kesslerfoundation.org.
