| Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Psychology at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall, 2013. Preference given to candidates who have a Ph.D. in developmental psychology by the time classes begin Fall 2013. Only applicants with a strongly scientific approach, a commitment to undergraduate teaching, and a record of promising research that can incorporate undergraduate collaborators will be considered. The developmental focus should be on childhood and/or adolescence, but the area of specialization within developmental psychology is open. Topics of candidate expertise and interest could include, for example, cognitive development, socialization, gender issues, ethnic or cultural identity,
or moral development. The College and the Department value interdisciplinary programs (e.g., education, ethnic studies, neuroscience, medical humanities, and gender & sexuality studies concentrations), collegiality, and an Honor Code. The Psychology Department has received awards from the APA for its Service commitments and distinctive Interdisciplinary attainments. The teaching load is five
courses/academic year and course responsibilities include teaching some combination of Introductory, child or adolescent development, research methods, a seminar in the candidate’s major research area,
and a specialty course (courses including diverse cultural or minority content or methods will be highly valued). Dedicated lab space is currently available, and the department expects to move into new office,
laboratory, and teaching space in a two- to three-year time frame. The College has a grants and contracts office that will help faculty with external grant applications. Modest intramural grant support is available for summer and academic year research. Historically our developmental psychologist has cultivated research and practicum resources in
