Assistant Professor
Department of Psychology

Skidmore College

Saratoga Springs, NY

The Department of Psychology at Skidmore College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology at the level of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2013. Applications are invited from candidates specializing in the mechanisms, processes, or consequences of diversity broadly defined (e.g., culture, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomics). Candidates may be trained in one of several areas of Psychology (e.g., Developmental, Cognitive, Social, Personality, Clinical, Health), but the area of expertise should be related to issues of diversity within that subfield. This position covers core courses in Psychology (including an introductory psychology course and/or statistical and experimental design courses), lecture and lab courses in the candidate's area of expertise, and supervision of student research. Within the context of a five-course teaching load, this position occasionally also includes the coverage of an interdisciplinary seminar (topic open) for first-year students.

We welcome applications from under-represented groups as well as individuals who have experience teaching diverse populations of students.

Review of applications begins October 15, 2012 and we expect to fill the position by the end of December 2012. We invite potential candidates attending the American Psychological Association Conference (Orlando, FL, August 2-5, 2012) to email Dr. Mark Rye at mrye@skidmore.edu in advance and arrange a meeting.
