The Department of Psychology at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications for a one-year appointment that could lead to a tenure-track faculty position in Personality and Individual Differences OR Learning and Motivation at the assistant professor level. Please specify in your cover letter which of these concentrations best fits your education and background. Successful candidates will teach courses in the aforementioned areas at the graduate and undergraduate level. The typical teaching load in the department is three courses per semester; faculty are expected to actively engage in teaching, research, and service. UTC faculty should also demonstrate a commitment to diversity by a willingness to work with diverse students and colleagues, engage in interdisciplinary research, and use a variety of teaching methods or curricular perspectives.
Ideal candidates will provide evidence of strong teaching skills and an active research program with the ability to collaborate with master’s and undergraduate students. The Department of Psychology at UTC has 12 full-time faculty members with over 550 undergraduate majors and master’s programs in Research and I-O Psychology. Department faculty collaborate with local physicians, mental health professionals, teaching and rehabilitation hospitals, other departments on campus, and a variety of private and non-profit organizations in the community.
