Job Summary
The Department of Psychology at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full time renewable term position in the new undergraduate program at our Sacramento campus. This exciting program is set to launch in Spring, 2013, coinciding with the start date of the term appointment. The program is designed to provide the junior and senior years of Psychology curriculum for students transferring from local community colleges at which they have completed much of their general education curriculum requirements and some of their foundational courses in Psychology.

The successful candidate will have college-level teaching experience in Psychology and should have particular experience teaching research methods courses as well as a variety of other upper-division Psychology courses. Training and experience in conducting psychological research is required and those candidates with current active research programs are particularly encouraged to apply.


Job Responsibilities:
This term faculty will teach three (4-unit) courses each semester. Courses taught each year will include Research Design and Advanced Research Methods, and may include Statistics, Biological Psychology, and/or Diversity courses in Psychology, as well as courses drawn from his/her area of specialization. This term faculty will also be actively involved in mentoring students and academic advising.

It is vital that the Sacramento program reflect the culture of the Psychology Department at San Francisco. Therefore, for the first semester, this term faculty member will teach two courses at the Sacramento campus and one course at the San Francisco campus, attend departmental meetings, participate in student advising, and meet regularly with faculty at the San Francisco campus. In subsequent years, teaching and advising responsibilities will be entirely at the Sacramento campus while attendance at monthly department meetings at the San Francisco campus will continue.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications include University teaching experience; evidence of a strong commitment to teaching; evidence of research and scholarship; a strong commitment to undergraduate research training; Ph.D. in Psychology, earned by January 15, 2013; experience and willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment; and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University.
