There was much to do and see this year in the Exhibit Hall at the 24th Annual Convention of the Association for Psychological Science in Chicago.
Attendees could check out the newest books for their classrooms and personal libraries, test drive the latest technology for their labs, learn about new movements and initiatives in psychology, and, of course, pick up some free promotional items!
The exhibit hall was buzzing with life, as publishers from the general to the specialized presented their latest and best-selling titles in psychological science and related disciplines. Some exhibitors highlighted their digital-only teaching supplies, while lab technology and software companies demonstrated their cutting-edge research tools, such as equipment to measure biophysical reactions. And since today’s experiments are not always conducted in a face-to-face setting, many publishers and developers showcased software for online testing, such as programs that measure reaction-time.
Jobs, fellowships, and funding information were available from psychological-science-related nonprofits and from government agencies. Some nonprofits showcased the benefits of membership in their organizations, for both students and professionals.
On the lighter side, there was an APS photo booth where attendees got their face on the cover of the Observer with a cutout Bobo and a psychology-themed gift shop which displayed games like Psychopoly and microscopic jewelry.
APS Convention staff gives a big “thank you” to this year’s exhibitors — both the returning familiar faces and the debut exhibitors. See you next year!
