CALL FOR EDITOR NOMINATIONS
Nominations are now being invited for Founding Editor of a new APS journal, tentatively titled Psychological Clinical Science, a journal to support rapidly advancing and cutting-edge clinical science across a full range of scientific perspectives. The journal will include articles covering topics from basic research on the underlying mechanisms and etiology of psychological health and dysfunction to basic and applied research on topics in mental health research broadly conceived (e.g., the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness; the improvement of service delivery; and the promotion of well-being).
The Founding Editor must be a seasoned scientist and experienced editor who is able to assemble and lead a team of associate and consulting editors covering the different areas of psychological clinical science as broadly as possible. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an Editor to shape what is sure to become another influential APS journal and a first-choice publication outlet for scientists conducting premier relevant research.
Selection criteria: Criteria to be considered for selecting the Founding Editor include:
- Comprehensive knowledge and broad perspective on the field of psychological clinical science
- Understanding and appreciation of the many relevant disciplines (e.g., psychology and its relevant non-clinical subdisciplines; psychiatry; neurology; genetics; neuroscience; sociology; public health; etc.)
- Professional accomplishment and identity within psychological science
- Demonstrated research, writing, reviewing, and managerial skills
- Significant editorial experience
Starting date and editorial term: We are looking for an editor to begin soon after selection this fall or thereafter. The new editor will begin receiving (and soliciting, at least initially) manuscripts in 2012 to prepare for a first issue in early 2013. The length of the editorial term is 5 years.
Nominations for Editor are welcomed. Please provide a name and contact information for each nominee by July 15, 2011 to the search committee at editorsearch@psychologicalscience.org. Additional material, including curricula vitae and brief statements of interest or support may also be sent, but at this point in the process a name and contact information are sufficient. Self-nominations are welcomed. We especially encourage nominations of members of underrepresented groups in psychology.
Inquiries should be directed to the
