The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a Research Assistant Professor in Youth-Nex, the University of Virginia Center to Promote Effective Youth Development within the Department of Human Services. This position will focus on work within existing intervention research grants. The current research focus is on important issues in educational settings from early childhood to high school. Duties and responsibilities include management of a large-scale intervention research program; execution of assessment and implementation work that is the focus of the current grant funding; writing peer-reviewed articles; serve as a mentor for graduate student research; and participate in Youth-Nex related activities including recruitment and dissemination efforts.
This is a one year non-tenure track research faculty position with the possibility of continuation depending upon successful performance and the availability of funding.
A doctoral degree in educational psychology, developmental science, education science, or a related field is required prior to the start date of this position. At least 1 year of experience conducting field trials and/or managing large, complex research projects is required as is experience in conducting research. Work that demonstrates potential for obtaining external funding and publication in peer reviewed journals is also required. Substantive understanding of education research literature in early childhood or K-12 education and a demonstrated ability to knowledgably apply quantitative research methods to education issues is required. Experience mentoring and advising students is preferred, as is substantive experience collaborating with partners in policy settings, districts or early childhood and high school settings.
