Research Associate-Post Doc; Department of Plant Pathology, Kansas State University. Coordinate, help establish, and rate wheat blast disease phenotyping nurseries in South America. Help collect and analyze the data and prepare reports and other publications related to the data that are collected. Design and carryout experiments into the basic biology of the wheat blast pathogen. Experiments should especially focus on the source of primary inoculum, importance of the seedborne phase, and longevity of various fungal propagules under different environmental conditions. Develop models to help forecast the occurrence of wheat blast epidemics. Coordinate various extension outreach programs in South America and the U.S. related to wheat blast.
