The Social and Economic Cognition group (Prof. Wilhelm Hofmann) at the Department of Psychology, University of Cologne, seeks applications for two 3-year Postdoctoral Scientist Positions.

Candidates must have earned a PhD in a relevant social science discipline by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in social cognition, defined broadly. Candidates should also have substantive interests in key research topics of the group, such as self-regulation/self-control, decision-making, consumer and health psychology, behavioral economics, or a closely related area. Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence in their PhD research and will have a very good understanding of research methods and advanced statistical methods. Teaching experience is highly welcome. The primary responsibilities of the positions will include carrying out and disseminating innovative and collaborative research, securing grants, supervising doctoral students and research assistants, and teaching courses in the bachelor and master’s program at the Department of Psychology. These are 3-year positions that offer internationally competitive salaries and benefits (German Civil Service position “Akademische Ratsstelle auf Zeit”, salary group: A13). The positions are renewable for up to three more years. The targeted starting date is December 2013, or later.

The University of Cologne is one of Germany’s largest universities. The faculties offer B.A., M.A., and doctoral degrees. Courses are taught either in English or German.
