New Post-Doctoral Position Available Now!

Immediate Opening: 1 Post-Doctoral position

Columbia Valley Community Health (CVCH) is a busy Primary Care Clinic with 23 Primary Care Providers (PCPs) at three sites. Patients are referred to Behavioral Medicine Consultants (BMC)/Interns/Post-Doc through PCP referrals. The integrated model of care is collaborative between PCP and BMed. The Post-Doctoral provider is considered part of the medical team and participates in provider meetings and is frequently sought after for their expertise. Patients with all levels of need are seen on a daily basis and preferably at their time of need. The Department of Behavioral Medicine was designed to allow PCPs to contact the BMC when a patient issue arises. This can be a simple meet and greet or helping patients deal with more complex types of issues (new diagnosis, diabetes, asthma, panic, depression, pain, etc.). The focus is on whatever the patient presents with that is impairing their function or their ability to be compliant with medical recommendations.

Therapy in the Primary Care Setting is generally focused on improved function and is brief in nature. Though the Post-Doc will be involved in longer-term care with a more severe type of persistently mentally ill group as well as those that present for other types of issues. Post-Docs are required to carry a caseload of patients and will spend part of their rotation learning specialized skills through the Central Washington Hospital rotation. The Post Doc provider will work with children, adults, families and groups throughout their training. Pain management is a large focus in our clinic. Further, many patients are monolingual Spanish speaking. If Post Doc is unable to fluently speak Spanish an interpreter will be provided. This allows for the opportunity to work with Hispanic patients dealing with a variety of issues such as acculturation, immigration & deportation, migrant work, seasonal work, etc.

The CVCH Behavioral Medicine Post-Doc position is a one year, full-time position with a flexible start time. Preference is given to candidates that can start as soon as possible, but no later than October 1st. This Post-Doc is NOT part of the APPIC membership nor is it APA accredited. Though, the standards for the position closely match the expectations set forth by APPIC. CVCH is committed to becoming a teaching center and providing a training program that is valued as interns and post-docs become professionals in the field of psychology. You can review information on our internship training program at http://www.cvch.org/behavioral-medicine/, which is participating in APPIC membership.

Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment that can change throughout the day and have an interest in Health Psychology. Stipend is $35,000 for twelve months of 40 hours a week; other benefits such as medical, dental, and vacation (3 weeks) plus holidays. We are requiring ALL candidates be licensed at the Master’s level (LMHC, LicSW, MSW, LMFT) at the start of their Post-Doc position in Washington State. Please check the Department of Health website for specific requirements and transfer of licensure at http://www.doh.wa.gov/LicensesPermitsandCertificates/ProfessionsNewReneworUpdate/HealthcareProfessionalCredentialingRequirement.aspx .
