The Texas Tech Neuroimaging Institute (www.ttni.ttu.edu) in conjunction with the College of Human Sciences has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in neuroimaging. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with cognitive neuroscientists and neuroimaging specialists on research aimed at revealing the cognitive mechanisms and associated brain characteristics of special populations, with particular focus on those with autism, ADHD, intellectual/mathematical/musical giftedness, as well as a separate line of research into the impact of binge drinking on adolescent brain development and function. Dr. Michael W. O’Boyle, Assistant Director of the TTNI will serve as the primary mentor, although interaction with other TTNI and TTU affiliated faculty is a certainty.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive/behavioral neuroscience, or a closely related field, and should have significant experience in neuroimaging and image analysis. Some background and/or advanced training in diffusion tensor imaging, volumetric and surface-based MRI analyses, functional connectivity analyses, and the modeling of structure-function relationships is preferred. It is essential that the candidate have expertise and working knowledge of MRI/fMRI analysis software such as FSL, SPM, and Free Surfer, along with familiarity of Matlab and E-Prime programming. Experience interpreting neuroimaging data and previous work with the aforementioned special populations are highly desirable.
The position is ready to begin as soon as possible but the actual starting date is flexible. A minimum two-year commitment is required.
