The Military Psychiatry Branch of the Center for Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Maryland seeks post-doctoral applicants for a new Behavioral Health Researcher post-doc position.

The Behavioral Health Researcher will assist in the development, analysis, and publication of innovative studies on a range of Army mental health care topics. The candidate will join one of the Army’s leading mental health research teams focusing on mental health and resilience of Service Members and their families in the Army.

Candidates for the post-doctoral position should have a Ph.D. or equivalent training in psychology, epidemiology, or other closely-related field. Additionally, candidates must possess experience with quantitative methods (desired: multilevel modeling, CFAs, longitudinal analysis) and a CV demonstrating conference and peer-reviewed publications. Experience in designing studies and analyzing large datasets focused on mental health and/or organizational phenomena is highly desirable.

The candidate will be responsible for conducting advanced statistical analyses on large datasets and contributing to the writing and publication of briefings and peer-reviewed journal articles as a member of an active mental health research program in the Center for Psychiatry and Neuroscience, aiding in the organization, development of research projects, and growth of research staff.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serve as part of a research team conducting studies on behavioral health and well-being of Soldiers and their families in the Army to include analyzing complex multilevel and longitudinal datasets, publishing study findings, and presenting research to Army leadership and academic audiences. Must be proficient in SPSS, Stata, or R.

• Be effective in communicating the goals and accomplishments of our research team in order to support other agencies throughout the Department of Defense in wide-ranging research projects and to support institutional review board protocol submissions.

• Present and publish findings of health services research to better inform public health and Army operations of new directions for clinical care.
