The University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry/WPIC has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Scholar in a 2-year training program to join a multidisciplinary team studying risk factors associated with childhood-onset mood disorders in both adult and juvenile samples. Research opportunities include access to a complete, multigenerational, cross-disciplinary database of psychiatric diagnoses, psychophysiological data (EEG, RSA, EMG), candidate genes/markers, ratings of mother-child interactions, and cognitive, developmental and psychosocial information (including self-ratings). Ongoing projects include follow-up of high-risk young offspring focusing on emotion regulation and cardiac vagal control, and follow up of a large sample of older adolescents with childhood depression histories (and controls) examining psychiatric and behavioral medicine outcomes. The multidisciplinary data base provides a great opportunity for first authored scientific publications. Other opportunities include intensive grantsmanship training and extensive exposure to psychiatric diagnostic and clinical issues with older children, adolescents, and young adults, which can be used towards clinical licensure. The successful applicant will join a NIMH post-doctoral training program, which includes weekly meetings with other post-docs, grant writing and research training, and interactions with WPIC faculty. Applicants should have a background in clinical research on mood disorders, past exposure to psychophysiology, and a Ph.D. in Psychology or related field. Interest in multivariate modeling approaches is very desirable. Please send inquiry, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation to: Maria Kovacs, Ph.D., WPIC, 3811 O’Hara Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, U.S.A., or to kovacs@pitt.edu.
