Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric/Child Clinical Psychology with Emphasis on Integration of Behavioral Health Care with Pediatric Primary Care
Geisinger Health System invites applicants for four full-time post-doctoral fellowship positions in integrated pediatric primary care and one full-time post-doctoral fellowship position in pediatric/child clinical psychology within the Division of Psychiatry and Janet Weis Children's Hospital. The positions are available to begin July 1, 2014 (can be delayed until September 1, 2014) and are for one year.
Fellows selected for the integrated pediatric primary care setting will participate in a system-wide implementation of an integrated care model by working in one of three Pediatric Clinics in the Geisinger system. This innovative program for Geisinger Health System involves providing direct services to children, adolescents and families, consulting with primary care providers, education and training of primary care providers, and evaluation of integrated care services including assessment of cost offset and other outcome measures. Each fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in a specialty clinic experience in one of the following areas: Pediatric Sleep, Autism, or Child Abuse.
The fellow selected for the outpatient Psychiatry clinic and Children’s Hospital will be involved in inpatient consultation/liaison in the Children’s Hospital and Emergency Department at Geisinger Medical Center, participate in group treatment of disruptive behavior disorders and pediatric obesity, provide outpatient services for a wide variety of clinical problems among children and adolescents in our hospital-based outpatient clinic, conduct assessments of preschool-age children, engage in triage activities and supervision of pre-doctoral interns, and be given the opportunity to take a leadership role on an adolescent inpatient unit and/or with the Pediatric Hem/Onc or Cranial Facial/Cleft Palate teams.
While the positions are primarily clinical in nature, the fellows will be expected to participate in research activities. Candidates do not need to be seeking research careers to qualify. There are opportunities to participate in ongoing treatment outcome research and/or develop new research projects. There are also opportunities to supervise and teach interns in our APA-accredited internships.
Clinical or School Ph.D. or Psy.D. and completion of an APA-accredited internship with relevant experience required. Salary and benefits are competitive. Geisinger is a well-respected hospital/trauma center located in a low-stress, rural area within a 3 hour drive of New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the positions are filled. Timely applications are encouraged as interviews will be offered to qualified candidates with interview dates planned for late January 2014
