Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Decision Neuroscience Laboratory
Urbana, Illinois , USA
Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology
6/15/2013
The Decision Neuroscience Laboratory is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, beginning Fall 2013. This fellowship is designed to provide advanced training in cognitive neuroscience research that directly benefits older adults and persons with traumatic brain injury ( TBI ). The focus of translational research in the Decision Neuroscience Laboratory is to identify neural, genetic, and nutritional biomarkers of executive function, learning, and memory, and to study their roles in cognitive aging and in the recovery of function after brain injury. The operating framework to study these processes and their disorders is based on an integrative approach that combines neural, molecular genetic, and nutritional data in an effort to develop predictive models of higher cognitive function. The goal is to turn cognitive neuroscience research results into usable assessment and intervention techniques for older adults and TBI patients. The Laboratory provides ample opportunity for the development of innovative, focused research and a broad collaborative cognitive neuroscience experience through affiliations with the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, the Center for Nutrition, Learning, and Memory, the Center on Health, Aging, and Disability, Department of Computer Science, Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Psychology, Department of Speech and Hearing Science, and the Neuroscience Program. This research fellowship is designed as a three-year experience that includes a speaker series, journal article discussions, laboratory presentations and discussions, tutorial training, and the teaching of skills necessary to conduct original cognitive and neuroimaging research in cognitive neuroscience and cognitive neurology. Ph.D.’s and M.D.’s with a strong background in multivariate analysis of fMRI are encouraged to apply. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with NIH guidelines. For further information, contact Aron K. Barbey, Ph.D., Director, Decision Neuroscience Laboratory, at Barbey@Illinois.edu and see www.DecisionNeuroscienceLab.org/ . To apply, send CV and three recommendations to Barbey@Illinois.edu by June 15, 2013. The University of Illinois is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse, cooperative work environment.
