The Sleep and Anxiety Center for Kids (SACK) at the University of Houston is accepting applications for a fulltime postdoctoral fellowship position to begin in the summer of 2013. The position is for one year with the possibility of extension depending on funding. The fellow will primarily be responsible for coordinating a research study focused on sleep patterns and characteristics in children with anxiety disorders and depression. Previous training and/or experience in sleep research/medicine including objective measurement of sleep (i.e., polysomnography, actigraphy) is ideal but not required. The fellow will receive mentored training and supervision from a licensed clinical psychologist in empirically-supported assessment and treatment of sleep and anxiety disorders in youth. Other responsibilities include manuscript writing, data management and analysis, mentoring graduate students and research assistants, and grant writing. There are multiple opportunities within the University of Houston community and surrounding institutions (e.g., Texas Medical Center) for independent research and collaboration. Eligible candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills. Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an APA-accredited doctoral program in psychology including training in child psychopathology. A degree in clinical psychology is preferred but applications are welcome from candidates in related fields. The salary and benefits package is competitive. Inquiries and application materials, including a letter of research interests, CV, and three letters of reference, should be sent to Candice Alfano, Ph.D. at caalfano@uh.edu.
