Postdoc Description
We will be hiring a postdoctoral fellow to oversee neuroimaging and clinical studies focused on chronic pain and fatigue. We have several ongoing projects that utilize neuroimaging (primarily MRI), immunological, and pharmaceutical approaches to understand and treat pathological pain and fatigue. We are primarily interested in how neuroinflammation may drive conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Gulf War Illness.

The fellow will work primarily with Dr. Jarred Younger in the Adult and Pediatric Pain Lab at Stanford. The fellow may also work on projects jointly with Dr. Sean Mackey in the Stanford Systems Neuroscience and Pain Lab. Duties of the fellowship include overseeing MRI/fMRI data collection and analysis, interfacing with medical personnel and patients, conducting psychophysical tests of pain processing, monitoring medication side-effects, supervising research assistants, and assisting with analyses, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. The fellow will also have the opportunity to pursue his or her own pilot projects, and learn advanced techniques in neuroimaging, clinical research, statistics, human immune monitoring, and other fields.

The position is for one year, with an additional year contingent on satisfactory performance. The fellow will be encouraged to submit training grant applications for continued research.
