The Sleep and Anxiety Center for Kids (SACK) at the University of Houston is accepting applications for an immediate fulltime postdoctoral fellowship position. The position is for one year with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

SACK is a clinical research center in the Department of Psychology at UH offering both research opportunities and low-cost clinical services for children based on the latest scientific evidence. The post-doctoral fellow will have both clinical and research responsibilities including clinic management and administration, a small number of therapy cases, participation in several ongoing research projects focused on anxiety and/or sleep in children, and initiation of new related research projects in collaboration with another local institution. Other expectations include manuscript writing, data management and analysis, and mentoring graduate students.

The fellow will receive mentored training and supervision from a licensed clinical psychologist both in terms of conducting large scale research projects and in the implementation of empirically-supported treatments for sleep and anxiety disorders in youth. The position is ideal for candidates with strong research interests in pediatric mental and/or physical health. Numerous opportunities for publication (including first-authored publications), training in grant writing, and developing an independent program of research are available.

Previous training and experience in working with children, strong organizational skills, and excellent writing skills (fluency in written and spoken English) are necessary. Experience in the field of sleep medicine, including conducting psychophysiological/sleep assessments (e.g., polysomnography) is ideal but not required. Experience in conducting advanced multivariate statistical analyses is also ideal.

Start date is somewhat flexible. To apply, submit a cover letter describing your interests and career goals, a C.V., and reprints of relevant articles to Dr. Candice Alfano at caalfano@uh.edu Letters of reference should be made available upon request.
