Postdoc Description
UIC is an international leader in translational research and is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship, which is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will work in the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at UIC , focusing on elucidating the pathophysiology of major psychiatric disorders, in the stimulating, state-of-the-art environment of the new Molecular Biology Research Building. The candidate will work collaboratively with the principal investigator, in a research group with a strong emphasis on mentorship and training. The goals of our research group are to contribute to scientific progress and to train junior scientists to become future leaders in the field of molecular neuroscience.



Duties:

The candidate will work collaboratively with the principal investigator to conceptualize, initiate and execute research projects. Applicants must have a strong passion for research, scientific literature and enjoy tackling challenging problems.

Qualifications:

Applicants with an M.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D./Ph.D., Ph.D or equivalent in any area of the life sciences are invited. Essential criteria of candidates include strong verbal and written communication skills, peer-reviewed publications including a first-author paper, skills in molecular genetics, mammalian cell culture and western blotting. Computational skills, statistical genetics and/or experience in testing animal behavior would be desirable. This is an excellent opportunity to develop world class proficiency in molecular genetics, clinical and translational research in psychiatric disorders.
