A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available on a project to study the impact of spiritual activities on physical, as well as, relationship health. The research uses a variety of methods including behavioral observation and physiological measures (e.g., blood pressure, hormone assays) in the context of experimental and longitudinal research designs that examine romantic and marital relationships (under the direction of Professor Frank Fincham).

The postdoctoral fellow will join a team that includes an MD employed full time on the project and a neuroscientist. The fellow is expected to play an important role on the project and will be involved in the design and conduct of the studies, in data analysis, and in the preparation of manuscripts for publication. Opportunities also exist for the fellow to conduct additional research in the fellow’s area of expertise.

Requirements – Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or be near completion of a Ph.D.) in a relevant discipline. Experience in using physiological measures (esp., those relating to the cardiovascular system and/or immune system) would be a distinct advantage. In the absence of such experience, the fellow must be willing to be trained in their use. Familiarity with observational coding, statistical methods used to study couples (e.g., multilevel modeling, APIM) and experiment generating software (e.g. Media Lab, E-Prime) would be highly advantageous.

The appointment could begin immediately for a period of one year. Renewal is based on performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience, minimum salary: $45,000.
