One Postdoctoral Research Associate position (requires PhD) is available to study the effects of nicotinic agents in the central nervous system in relation to basic autonomic and cognitive brain functions and neuroprotection. We are looking for individuals with excellent laboratory skills, work ethics and prior experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology in brain slices.

Minimum qualifications : PhD in neuropharmacology, neuroscience, neurophysiology or related disciplines. Experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology in brain slices is required.

This laboratory investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate neuronal function and signaling. In addition to patch-clamp electrophysiology, other experimental techniques established and used in the laboratory include: fluorescent Ca2+ imaging combined with patch-clamp eletrophysiology, in vivo and in vitro retrograde tracing and labeling combined with electrophysiology, Western Blot, immunohistochemistry, single-cell RT-PCR, and confocal imaging. Behavioral studies are also conducted in relation to ischemia, stroke, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy in collaboration with other departments and universities.
