Post-Doctoral Fellowship
New York, Binghamton, USA
Binghamton University (SUNY)
Mood Disorders Institute
Open Until Filled
The Mood Disorders Institute at Binghamton University (SUNY) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. The fellow will help to coordinate two ongoing large-scale grant-funded projects seeking to integrate genetic and cognitive models of risk for psychopathology. The first is an NICHD-funded prospective, longitudinal study examining cognitive, genetic, and environmental risk factors for the intergenerational transmission of depression in 250 children of depressed and nondepressed mothers. The second is an NIMH-funded Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) study of 1,000 children examining genetic, epigenetic, and environmental influences on children’s attentional biases for emotional stimuli. Both projects rely on multi-method, multi-level assessments (e.g., eye tracking, pupil dilation, EEG/ERPs, psychophysiological assessments). The fellow will have numerous opportunities to assist in the preparation of manuscripts from these studies and related projects as well as opportunities for independent research. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related field and experience conducting research with children/adolescents. Applicants with expertise in EEG/ERP studies of affect and cognition are especially encouraged to apply. Experience in one or more of the following areas would also be desirable: structured diagnostic interviews (K-SADS, SCID), psychiatric genetics, experimental psychopathology (e.g., eye-tracking studies of attention), psychophysiology, and advanced statistics (e.g., multilevel modeling). This will be a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year and third year. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2013, though this is negotiable. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Send curriculum vita, statement of research interests and career goals, pre/reprints, and three letters of recommendation to: Brandon E. Gibb, Ph.D., at bgibb@binghamton.edu.
