POSTDOCTORAL POSITION - INFANT DEVELOPMENT LAB: The Infant Development Lab (infantlab.fiu.edu) in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University invites applications for a 2-3 year NIH funded postdoc in infant/child perceptual/cognitive/social development to start January 2013. We seek an applicant with strong statistical skills and research experience in developmental science to work with the P.I., Dr. Lorraine Bahrick, her students and staff, to coordinate a research program on the early development of attention and intersensory processing of social and nonsocial events. The postdoc will oversee a large scale project assessing individual differences in attention and intersensory processing and their effects on social and communicative functioning in longitudinal studies of typically developing infants and children to serve as a basis for identifying atypical developmental trajectories. Requirements: Advanced statistical skills including knowledge of SEM and longitudinal data analyses; excellent writing, organizational, computer, and technical skills; supervisory experience. Theoretical emphasis is on an ecological/developmental systems perspective. Familiarity with early social, cognitive, and language assessments, habituation, and eye tracking (Tobii) helpful. Opportunities for collaborative research, co-authoring manuscripts, developing an independent research program, interfacing with ongoing research on atypical development in autism, and training in manuscript writing and grantsmanship.
