POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Division of Sleep Medicine, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School

Postdoctoral Research Fellow (MD or PhD) needed to play a major role in a new NHLBI-funded Multi-Center Trial of Limiting Resident Physician Work Hours on Patient Safety in Pediatric ICUs nationwide [Children’s Hospital Boston (Harvard Medical School), Children’s Hospital Colorado (University of Colorado), Children’s Memorial Hospital (Northwestern University), University of Virginia, University of Iowa, Children’s Hospital Cincinnati (University of Cincinnati)]. The R andomized O rder S afety T rial E valuating R esident S chedules (ROSTERS) project will be the first large scale evaluation of the impact of resident physician work hours on patient harm.

The Research Fellow will work directly with the study PIs to provide input on protocol development and the implementation of these protocols at study sites. Knowledge of clinical study design and experimental statistics is required. Candidates with experience in field- and/or laboratory-based clinical trials are encouraged to apply. A background in sleep medicine is desirable but not required. If necessary, the candidate will attend an education program in sleep medicine. The interdisciplinary Division of Sleep Medicine has members from backgrounds in physiology, psychology, medicine, and mathematics. The successful post-doctoral candidate will be encouraged to collaborate both within and outside the Division to pursue research interests. The initial appointment will be for two years, renewable annually thereafter.
