Stony Brook University seeks a full-time postdoctoral fellow to conduct research with Drs. Roman Kotov (Psychiatry) and Aprajita Mohanty (Psychology). Duration and start time are negotiable.
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to collaborate on two longitudinal investigations that examine (1) 20-year outcomes of psychotic disorders and (2) comorbidity between mental and physical illnesses among responders to World Trade Center disaster. Both are multiwave, multifaceted studies of large patient cohorts. Data collections are ongoing, but new measures can be added. Extensive longitudinal data are already available on psychiatric symptoms, medical conditions, real-world performance, and neural functioning. ERP data collection is ongoing (in collaboration with Dr. Greg Hajcak), and functional neuroimaging (fMRI) assessments are starting.
The postdoctoral fellow will primarily be responsible for conducting analyses, supervising staff, preparing manuscripts, and writing grants. The fellow will receive ongoing training in statistical methods, grantsmanship, and substantive questions related to psychopathology and to neuroscience. Clinical opportunities (e.g., conducting diagnostic interviews) are also available, as well as supervision meeting licensure requirements.
Qualifications include a 1) doctoral degree, 2) substantial background in psychopathology, 3) demonstrated expertise in advanced multivariate statistics or analysis of fMRI data, as well as 4) a minimum of one first-authored publication. Experience with diagnostic interviews and coordination of externally-funded studies are also desirable.
