Postdoc Description
The Texas Tech Neuroimaging Institute (www.ttni.ttu.edu) in conjunction with College of Human Sciences has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in neuroimaging and is seeking applicants to immediately fill the position. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with cognitive neuroscientists and neuroimaging specialists on research aimed at revealing the cognitive mechanisms and associated brain characteristics of special populations, with particular focus on those with autism, ADHD, intellectual/mathematical/or musical giftedness, as well as a separate line of research into the impact of binge drinking on adolescent brain function. Dr. Michael W. O’Boyle, Assistant Director of the TTNI will serve as the primary mentor, although interaction with other TTNI and TTU affiliated faculty is a certainty.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive/behavioral neuroscience, or a closely related field, and should have significant experience in neuroimaging and data analysis. Some background and/or advanced training in diffusion tensor imaging, volumetric and surface-based MRI analyses, functional connectivity analyses, and the modeling of structure-function relationships is preferred. It is essential that the candidate have expertise and a working knowledge of MRI/fMRI analysis software such as FSL, SPM, and Free Surfer, along with familiarity of Matlab and E-Prime programming. Experience interpreting neuroimaging data and previous work with the aforementioned special populations are highly desirable. The postdoctoral fellow will interact with several research groups at the TTNI, TTU main campus and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and thus will be part of a rich and stimulating collaborative environment. Note that the successful candidate should have a keen interest in developing their own independent research career.
