Alcohol Research Group (ARG), School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley. ARG is currently accepting applications for one- and two-year postdoctoral fellowships sponsored by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) for research training in alcohol studies. Fellowships are oriented toward basic and applied social science and epidemiological alcohol research and are not seen as appropriate for persons interested in clinical practice. Training emphasizes the epidemiology of alcohol consumption and alcohol use disorders; treatment and other health services research; measurement issues; and innovative statistical methodologies. Research on drug use and problems is a small but growing part of ARG’s portfolio. ARG is a leader in health disparities research: Areas of study have included topics related to race/ethnicity, sexual minority status, discrimination, acculturation, socioeconomic disadvantage, and neighborhood disadvantage. Postdoctoral stipends range from $38,496 to $48,900 DOE, and partial health insurance and an annual travel budget are provided. Applications are accepted year-round. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have earned a doctoral degree or are within 3 months of filing. Visit the Web site at www.arg.org/training or contact Vicky Fagan, Training Program Administrator, at vfagan@arg.org for additional information.
