Airline Discount

APS has arranged special discounts with two airlines for travel to Washington, DC for the APS Convention.

American Airlines

APS has arranged a 5% discount with American Airlines for travel to Washington, DC for the APS Convention. Travel can be booked to any one of the area’s three airports: Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Valid travel dates for this discount are May 22 – June 11, 2011. Discounted travel must be booked online at www.aa.com, using promotion code 4751BD. This discount is valid for flights operated by American Airlines, American Eagle, and American Connection. International originating guests will need to contact your local reservation number and refer to the Promotion Code.

United Airlines

APS has arranged a 5% discount with United Airlines for travel to Washington, DC for the APS Convention. Valid travel dates for this discount are May 18 – June 6, 2011. Discounted travel can be booked online at www.united.com, or through the toll-free reservation line at +1 800.521.4041. Please use promotion code 586ZB.

Rail Discount

APS has arranged a 10% discount with Amtrak for travel to Washington, DC. The valid travel dates for this discount are May 22 – June 2, 2011. Travel must be booked by calling Amtrak at +1 800.872.7245 (or through your local travel agent), referencing Convention Fare Code X36D-907 and Association for Psychological Science.

Metrorail System

The Dupont Circle Metro Station on the Red Line is the closest Metro Station to the hotel. Exit at the north end of the Station to Q Street and walk four blocks north on Connecticut Avenue to the Washington Hilton hotel, located at 1919 Connecticut Avenue.

Driving Directions

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA):

Distance from hotel: 6 miles

Drive time: 20 minutes

Directions: Follow signs to I-395 and 14th St. Bridge. While on 395 North, move to the left-hand lane where you will see the sign for Route 1; this will take you to the 14th Street exit. Next, take 395 North over the 14th St. Bridge. Stay in the left-hand lane and take 14th Street to R Street NW. You will notice the streets run alphabetically. Make a left onto R Street. Follow R Street for six blocks to Connecticut Avenue NW. Make a right on Connecticut Avenue. The Washington Hilton will be four blocks up on the right.

From Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD):

Distance from hotel: 27 miles

Drive time: 40 minutes

Directions: Take the Dulles toll road to Rt. 66 East. Next, take Rt. 66 to Constitution Avenue. From Constitution Avenue turn left onto 18th Street. Take 18th Street to Connecticut Avenue. Make a left on Connecticut Avenue and stay in left-hand lane to take the Dupont Circle underpass. The Washington Hilton will be three blocks up on the right, at the corner of Connecticut Avenue and T Street.

From Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI):

Distance from hotel: 33 miles

Drive time: 1 hour

Directions: Leave the terminal and follow signs to I-95 South. Take I-95 South to 495 West. Then take 495 West to exit 33, the sign will say Chevy Chase/Connecticut Avenue. Take Connecticut Avenue South. After approximately five miles on Connecticut Avenue South you will see the National Zoo on your left. Five blocks after the zoo you will come to the William Taft Bridge. Cross the bridge and get into the left lane. At the third traffic light, make a left; the Washington Hilton will be on your left.

Taxis will cost approximately $20 from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), $50 from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and $65 from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Parking

On-site parking is available at the Washington Hilton and is both covered and secure. Valet parking is $35 per night and includes in and out privileges. Self parking is available for $28 per night. Rates are subject to change without notice.

From Connecticut Avenue, take a right on T Street and drive alongside the perimeter of the hotel. Drive past the T Street Ballroom entrance, and at the first intersection, take a hard left onto Florida Avenue, and then another left onto 19th Street. The parking facility entrance is located on the left, on 19th Street NW.
