Hard Adaptationism Meets Soft Emotions

A complete evolutionary psychology both explores features of mind as evolved adaptations and recognizes that adaptations are constrained by their phylogenetic derivation from prior traits. Recent work illustrates how such a perspective sheds light on functional aspects of emotions, and explains features of emotions that are often taken for granted.
