Emotional Influences on the 'Default' Self

Researchers have long debated whether we work hard or hardly work for the self-serving biases that pervade self-judgments. New neuroscience research suggests that whereas accuracy recruits neural systems associated with effortful executive function, biases are accomplished through automatized information-processing that is nonetheless shaped by a number of motivations.
