Prenatal Origins of Health and Illness

Chair: Christopher L. Coe  [Email Presenter]
University of Wisconsin-Madison

The antecedents of resilience and vulnerability are established early in life. Our studies investigated effects of gestational conditions on brain, behavior, and immune development. Novel mediating pathways were identified beyond traditional hormone mechanisms. Differential responses to the postnatal environment also set the stage for the trajectories toward health or pathology.
