Anticipating harm has long been an integral component of many forms of law and currently fuels heated debates about criminal sentencing, required psychological treatment, and restricted access to handguns. Recent developments in scientific violence risk assessments will be reviewed, and controversies regarding risk-based legal decision making will be engaged.
