The implicit-explicit separation (IES) model is described. This model provides parameter estimates for explicit memory storage, implicit storage, fractional storage, and non-storage. The experimental task involves a yes-no recognition test with confidence ratings along with a four-alternative force-choice test. Data support different retention functions for explicit and implicit memory.
