Predictors of Verbal Ability for Preschool Children Exposed to Intimate Partner Violence

When compared to a national sample of preschool children, those exposed to intimate partner violence scored significantly lower on a measure of verbal ability. Prior exposure to traumatic events and maternal education were significant predictors of verbal ability. Level of education mediated the relationship between traumatic events and verbal score.
