The assessment of pre-college drinking was refined by separating it into the pre-college school year and pre-college summer. Drinking during the school year and summer differentially predicted planned first-semester drinking. In predicting planned drinking, multiple regression modeling was somewhat better than approaches in which school-year and summer drinking were combined.
