Understanding the underpinnings of such pseudoscientific enterprises as facilitated communication requires a clear grasp of ideomotor effects. As students often doubt their own susceptibility to such effects, the best way to bring this concept alive in the classroom is to actually engage the students in producing such effects themselves.
