E.C., a color-gustatory synesthete, perceives distinct taste sensations when viewing colors. Since some synesthetic experiences can be influenced by knowledge, E.C. was presented with pictures of appropriately and inappropriately colored foods. E.C. had similar synesthetic tastes for both appropriate and inappropriate colors suggesting that E.C. is an intramodal, “lower” synesthete.
