The mental imagery (MI) model of the mere exposure effect contends that the effect is mediated by MIs of stimuli encoded during familiarization, then retrieved at test. Reaction times for liking ratings of faces were shorter in frontal and 3/4 views than in profile view, supporting the MI model.
