Cognitive Word Use and Psychological Closure

Cognitive word use and galvanic skin response were measured during descriptions of nominated events that varied in terms of psychological closure. Cognitive word use was associated with decreased physiological arousal only when writing about open events. Possible implications for coping with stressful memories will be discussed.
