Abstract
This talk will summarize the process of building a theory of goal setting and task performance over a period of some 40 years, including the identification of goal attributes, mediators, moderators and establishing the generality of the theory across time, settings, tasks, subjects, methods, levels, experimental designs, and countries.
Edwin A. Locke is the recipient of the 2005-2006 James McKeen Cattell Fellow Award. The James McKeen Cattell Fellow Award recognizes APS Members for a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the area of applied psychological research.
