Abstract:
The effects of attractiveness and trait valence on impression formation were examined through the physical attractiveness stereotype bias and the negativity effect. Participants viewed an attractive or unattractive photograph, formed an initial impression, viewed positive or negative trait information, and formed a final impression. Negative trait information significantly lowered impressions of targets. Positive information and attractiveness had no influence on impressions.
